SHERIFF BROWN NAMED REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION

The Georgia Sheriffs’ Association recently elected DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas E. Brown to the post of regional vice president. The position requires that he sit on the executive board of the organization as a representative of sheriff’s in Region 2, which includes DeKalb, Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Paulding, and Rockdale counties. “I’m honored to serve, and I appreciate the confidence that my brethren sheriffs have shown in electing me to the board. I look forward to expressing the views of the urban sheriffs’ offices to the at-large body of sheriffs,” Brown said. The Georgia Sheriffs’ Association is a nonprofit organization comprised of the 159 county elected Georgia sheriffs and nearly 70,000 honorary members. The association seeks to promote and improve law enforcement in Georgia, provide training and education for sheriffs, deputy sheriffs and other staff, and maintain an active voice in the Georgia General Assembly on matters relating to public safety, law enforcement and Georgia’s criminal and juvenile justice systems. The Sheriffs of Georgia also sponsor full-time residential care for Georgia’s dependent, abused, abandoned and neglected children at five campuses through the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, Inc. # # #
