| DEPUTIES ARREST SUSPECT IN WAFFLE HOUSE MURDER |

DECATUR, Ga.— Following a high-speed chase that began at approximately 3 p.m. today, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office deputies, with DeKalb County Police Officers assisting in the chase, arrested a suspect in the January 18, 2006, murder at a Waffle House located on Brockett Road.
Sheriff’s deputies booked suspect Ralph Wilkinson (dob 11/05/82) into the DeKalb jail and then transported him to the DeKalb County Police Criminal Investigation Division for questioning in the murder of Steven Barney.
Two undercover sheriff’s deputies on surveillance at Timber Trace Apartments in the East Ponce de Leon area spotted Wilkinson sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot at the location. The suspect began to drive away from the location, and the deputies followed in what became a chase from East Ponce de Leon to Mountain Industrial Boulevard and then to Hugh Howell Road and Highway 78, where the suspect was taken into custody.
