| INMATE DEATH UNDER INVESTIGATION |
|
A DeKalb County Jail detention officer discovered the body of a jail inmate while performing a routine round of jail cell inspections around10:30 a.m. today.
The inmate, Joshua Hazelton, 19, of Atlanta was arrested in January 2006 on felony murder charges.
An autopsy performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed no obvious signs of the cause of death; however, toxicology tests may yield more information when they are completed.
The Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards (OPS) is investigating the death, and Sheriff Thomas Brown has requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Results of the investigations will be released when they are presented to Sheriff Brown.
