| SWAT TEAM ARRESTS SUSPECT FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER |

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team deputies yesterday (Nov. 7, 2006) arrested a suspect wanted for Aggravated Assault on a DeKalb County police officer. After investigation and surveillance, deputies arrested 26-year-old Bryan McKenzie at 1051 Holcombe Road, Building 3, Apt. A, in Decatur.
An arrest warrant was issued for McKenzie following an Oct. 18, 2006, incident in which he fled on foot during a traffic stop and fired at the officer who was in pursuit.
The deputy to whom the warrant was assigned on Nov. 2, 2006, found that McKenzie had a history involving weapons charges and drugs. Due the suspect’s history, the sheriff’s Swat Team, which is activated in high-risk situations, and uniformed deputies were called for backup prior to entering the residence on a search warrant that contained a “no knock” clause.
Deputies located McKenzie in an upstairs bedroom where he was arrested without incident. The suspect was transported to the DeKalb County jail.
